St. Louis (30-26-2) is fifth in the Central Division, six points behind Los Angeles and Nashville for a playoff spot. It will be making a quick turnaround after a 4-2 loss on Tuesday night at Winnipeg.

Pavel Buchnevich and Brandon Saad scored for the Blues, who are 2-4-0 in their past six games. St. Louis goalie Joel Hofer made his first start in his hometown and stopped 28 shots.

“I think we played a decent game,” Buchnevich said of linemates Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou during a postgame conversation with The Associated Press. “We got chances, but like I was saying, we’ve got to score goals, you know? But at least we got chances today and not like just on the power play.”

Buchnevich has 22 goals and 25 assists for the Blues while Jordan Kyrou has five goals and three assists over the past 10 games.

Edmonton (34-20-2, third in the Pacific Division) sits in third place in the Pacific Division with 70 points, seemingly locked in to a postseason berth. The Oilers beat the Los Angeles Kings 4-2 on Monday night to snap a three-game skid as Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard each had a goal and an assist.

Zach Hyman and Ryan Nugent-Hopkins also scored and Connor McDavid had two assists to help the Oilers move two points up on the Kings for the third place in the Pacific Division. Stuart Skinner stopped 38 shots.

“It’s probably good timing the way our game was trending lately, to have a game where you have to play simple and stay in it the whole 60,” Nugent-Hopkins told The Associated Press. “We did a great job of that.”

The teams meet Wednesday for the second time this season. The Blues won the last meeting 6-3.

Hyman has 38 goals and 20 assists for the Oilers while Connor McDavid has a stunning 23 assists over the last 10 games. These two teams will meet Wednesday for the second time this season. The Blues won the first contest by a 6-3 score.

The St. Louis Blues are traveling to Edmonton after their game yesterday against the Winnipeg Jets. The Blues this season are struggling on offense as they are only generating 2.89 goals per game, placing them 25th overall in scoring. The Blues have not only been struggling at even strength but on the powerplay as well where they rank 24th overall with a powerplay percentage of 17.7%. On defense the Blues are allowing an average of 3.11 goals against per game.

Jordan Binnington should get the start in net for the Blues as we saw Joel Hofer in net yesterday against the Jets. Binnington this season is 20-16-2 with a goals against average of 2.93 and a save percentage of .909. Binnington in his last start had a rough time against Detroit with him allowing four goals on 14 shots on net.

The Edmonton Oilers are coming off a win on Monday against the LA Kings with a final score of 4-2. This is the first win for the Oilers in their last three games as their five game home stand now has a record of 1-3. Edmonton has been generating a lot of offense as they are fifth overall in scoring averaging 3.55 goals per game. This may be due to their powerplay which is fourth in the league at 27.4%. On defense the Oilers are allowing three goals against per game.

We will likely see Stuart Skinner in net for the Edmonton Oilers in this matchup. Skinner is 26-13-2 this season with a goals against average of 270 and a save percentage of .903. However, in his last five starts, Skinner has a save percentage of .869 and a goals against average of 4.18.

St. Louis is closing out a 3-game road swing. The Blues lost the middle game of that voyage Tuesday 4-2 at the Winnipeg Jets. After having won 5 straight road affairs from Jan. 23-Feb. 11, the Blues are 0-3-0 on road ice since.

The Oilers are closing out a 5-game homestand that has thus far seen the club go 1-2-1. Edmonton last played on Monday, allowing their most shots on goal since Oct. 17 (40), but still collecting a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Kings.
